Would You Like to Get Paid for Throwing a Party?

November 25th, 2008

Does getting paid for throwing a party sound too good to be true? Well it needn’t be, because some people are paid for doing just that! Yes, they are paid for hosting parties, as well as exhibitions, conferences and festivals, in fact any event that you can think of.

But events organisers don’t just party all the time! They have to arrange everything and make sure that the event goes like clockwork. This takes time, effort and a lot of planning. It is also necessary to have a very cool head on your shoulders, so that when everything starts to go wrong, you don’t panic, but you simply make things get back on track again.

It can often be a very demanding job, with long hours and sometimes very anti-social hours and if you are heading up a big event, then you need to show up, even if you don’t feel well or you have a splitting headache, then you still need to be there and smile!

Not everyone has the kind of skills and temperament that are required to be a successful party or event organiser, so before you rush off and launch yourself into a new career, it may well be worth talking to a recruitment agency, to see if they can place you with an organiser, even in a very lowly position, just to see if you actually like the work and have the mindset required to go with it: it can often be more like a way of life than a job.

The hours can be long, the planning can often seem never ending, but on the up side, when you have organised a major event, when everyone has had a good time and it has been a real success, well there is a tremendous feeling of job satisfaction, which makes all the effort that you have put in seem really worthwhile.
